What is the Maine Foodscapes Garden Project (FGP)?
We partner with food-insecure households in order to increase accessibility to sufficient, safe, and nutritious foods.
Maine Foodscapes believes in access to local, nutritious and delicious food for all of our residents and is dedicated to bridging this gap.
The purpose of the Maine FGP is to inspire and educate community members throughout York and Cumberland County to grow their own food.
Our goal is to provide gardening resources for individuals and families experiencing food insecurity to start growing food at their homes.
The Maine Foodscapes Garden Project Recipients benefit from the program through the following materials and services:
Three 4' x 8' Raised bed gardens, a 100 square foot in ground bed, OR 3 container gardens
Soil and compost
Wide selection of seeds and end of season cover crop
Various vegetable seedlings
Free access to gardening, cooking, and wellness workshops throughout the year
Access to a growing network of gardeners in Southern Maine
A Vegetable Growing Guide for Maine-based Gardening
Our work is a creative approach to building food security in Maine. We put the power of growing food into the hands of community members themselves. As a result, we promote a healthier, more resilient, and equitable community for all. Please join us in 2019 to help make healthy, safe, affordable food accessible to all.
